Adam Shand is one of Australia’s most prolific and versatile podcast creators. The Walkley Award-winning investigative journalist brings 35 years of storytelling to his latest titles: a new series of The Great COVID Reset and an innovative world-first podcast series with the NSW Police Force.

State Crime Command Investigations is a unique collaboration with NSW Police tackling the state’s most perplexing crimes. Through the podcast, NSW Police is reaching out to the public for information to resolve long-standing cases, ranging from missing persons cases to homicides and sex crimes. State Crime Command takes you into the world of detectives as they work on active cases and bring offenders to justice and closure for families.

In the State Crime Command series, Shand invites listeners to get involved. The first three cases of the series have been published, including the story of Year 12 student Passy Reyes who disappeared from her family home in 2001, never to return. New cases will be regularly published across a wide variety of crime themes but always with a view to bringing closure, the same focus that Shand has brought to true crime investigations for PodcastOne since 2017.

“This podcast with NSW Police is a world-first and harnesses the power of podcasting to achieve outcomes in these cases and shows the determination of investigators to get results in cases even decades old,” Shand said.

The Great COVID Reset podcast series is back with a second series and Shand continues his exploration of Australia’s ‘new normal’ under the COVID-19 pandemic. The new episodes include insightful conversations with SEEK.com Managing Director, Kendra Banks on employment trends, Nobel prize winner Professor Peter Doherty on vaccines, futurist Dr Keith Suter, ANZ Bank senior economist Cherelle Murphy and Australian entrepreneurs developing new drugs to help life return to normal.

Shand said: "It looks like we are hoping to return to ‘business as usual’ as vaccines are approved but perhaps, we are just as vulnerable to the next pandemic. Are we missing an opportunity to make lasting change that addresses issues that led Australia and the world into this emergency? In this series, I speak to people who are questioning our national narrative and propose solutions that once appeared radical but are now rational, given the lessons of 2020."

Shand has adapted his investigative journalism and true crime focus, once only the domain of newspapers, to podcasting as screenless entertainment continues to grow, especially in the true crime and investigative news categories.

In his original PodcastOne podcast, Adam Shand At Large, Shand brings an independent and forthright view of our world, fashioned from decades of journalism. This podcast is a search for truth and human stories from voices rarely heard in Australian media. His At Large podcasts include the ‘The Real Chopper’, taking you inside the mind of one of Australia’s most notorious criminals, Mark ‘Chopper’ Read and ‘Packer’s Gold’ about the  theft of Kerry Packer’s 285 kilos of gold from his Sydney office and ‘ATM Boy’ about the barman who went on a million dollar spending spree because of a glitch in his credit card. Shand also explored Australia's methamphetamine crisis in ‘Meth Destruction’.

“The At Large series reflects stories and areas of interest that I’ve developed over my career in journalism. I love finding the truth behind the myths in the crime world and also tackling the social questions that emerge from crime, like drug addiction. Some of these stories develop from long-term true crime investigations in the Understate series on PodcastOne and also topical stories that capture my attention and where I think I can add some value with a contrarian view,” Shand said.

SCA Head of Podcasting - PodcastOne Australia, Grant Tothill, said: "Adam is a great story teller with an ability to unearth information to generate fresh angles and facts that can challenge what we believe on the surface to be truth.

"He has successfully moved from print journalism, writing four books and television into podcasting, adapting his narrative structure to suit each medium and to create his own unique podcast sound and style."
