He’s a comedian, writer, producer, actor and television and radio presenter – but Mick Molloy is no better known than as part of Triple M’s DNA and next year he returns to his spiritual home for a brand new show with Mark ‘MG’ Geyer to shake up Sydney Breakfast.

Mick and MG in the Morning will bring Triple M listeners a fresh new Breakfast offering but also the familiar voice of Molloy and his legendary radio antics. Well-known and respected newsreader Natarsha Belling will join the show as newsreader and will banter with the best of them to keep the boys on their toes.

A genuine radio powerhouse, Molloy has spent the better part of the last three decades with SCA and the last 11 years with Triple M building many of its legendary shows including Martin/Molloy, the no. 1 daytime show* Tough Love, seven years on Melbourne’s #1 FM Breakfast show** The Hot Breakfast, three years in the Triple M Drive slot with Jane Kennedy, and then another year with his national Molloy Drive program, which was regularly no. 1 nationally for men aged 25-54***, before calling last drinks in 2021. Molloy is also the host of the Seven Network’s hugely popular and AACTA-winning sports entertainment show, The Front Bar.

Sydney Breakfast radio is a mountain Molloy is yet to climb and he is up for the challenge of creating yet another legendary show.

Mick Molloy said: “I’m excited to be returning to my spiritual home at Triple M and look forward to getting amongst it, in the Sydney breakfast radio scene. After a year away from the radio waves I wanted a new challenge and Sydney is the perfect opportunity. I’m also looking forward to working with MG and swapping stories. And if this doesn’t work out, I’ll throw my hat in the ring at The Project. I hear there’s an opening.”

MG is already well known to Sydney listeners, as co-host of the current 104.9 Triple M Breakfast show and part of Triple M’s renowned footy commentary team. He is also a former rugby league legend for the Penrith Panthers, and an Australian International and NSW State of Origin second rower before retiring and moving to a media career. He originally joined Triple M on The Grill Team Breakfast show in 2009 and then The Rush Hour show.

As Molloy joins forces with MG for the first time, the Mick and MG in the Morning show will air from 6-9am weekdays. Stamping Molloy’s renowned style on the Sydney Breakfast show reinforces Triple M as the home of Australian comedy royalty and the go-to destination for Rock, Sport, and Comedy.

MG said: “I cannot wait to work with Micky, who I regard as radio royalty. One of us owns a pub, the other owns a gym. The ‘cross-over’ after work activities will be a hoot!”

SCA Chief Content Officer, Dave Cameron, said “Mick Molloy has Triple M blood running through his veins, and to bring Mick back to headline Triple M Sydney breakfast is a triumph. He is truly one of Australia’s greatest radio performers and we know that his legendary style of radio comedy already resonates for Sydney listeners from his previous successful stint in Drive. Molloy and MG are an incredibly charismatic pairing who will wake up Sydney with Triple M’s unique irreverence and energy, and a show that won’t sound like anything else in Sydney.”

Jess Eva, who co-hosted the 104.9 Triple Breakfast show with MG, will not return to the show next year but will stay in the Triple M family in 2023.

“I am so very grateful to be able to call SCA my professional family and to also have the opportunity to continue to work with them. My world has just expanded, allowing me to follow my real passion of becoming a sex symbol,” Eva said.

The Mick and MG in the Morning show kicks off on 16 January 2023 from 6-9am weekdays on 104.9 Triple M and on LiSTNR.
