Townsville businesses will be the first in the country to use a groundbreaking new radio buying platform created specifically for their advertising needs by SCA, parent company to Triple M 102.3 and Hit 103.1.

SCA’s first self-service radio buying platform is aimed specifically at small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and will launch in Townsville on October 6, enabling local businesses to create and book radio ad campaigns online, with the click of a button.

SCA Executive General Manager of Queensland, Ken Wood, said: “Australia’s economic engine room is fuelled by small to medium sized businesses. The latest ABS figures* show that nine in 10 Aussie businesses are SMEs, which means there’s just over two million of them across the country. It’s a market that has been calling out for dedicated online access to local media, and now they have it.

“Our new, customised platform aims to make things easier for local businesses to engage with us. We understand most owners of small or medium sized businesses manage their own advertising – in fact they manage just about every role in the business – so this new platform will make accessing radio as simple as the click of a button.

“Currently small businesses are including social media and search in their advertising mix. The overriding reason for this, until now, is because of the convenience of buying advertising quickly online,” Wood said.

“Our new self-serve website is the answer to this problem as it is a new, dedicated platform for SMEs to book radio, while providing the metrics they are looking for – local audiences. It’s simple, it’s cost effective and it taps into local Townsville business needs, using local Townsville radio solutions.”

He said Townsville was the absolute first choice as a launch city.

“Launching this new self-serve platform in Townsville is a no brainer. Townsville is a resilient, optimistic, diverse, regional Australian city, with a wide cross section of businesses and strengths in tourism, defence, education, sport, logistics, primary industries, construction and hospitality,” Wood said.

Triple M 102.3 and Hit 103.1 Manager, Shane Jurgens, said the city was proud to be the first to use this breakthrough technology.

“Townsville businesses are ready to go! Our city is alive with businesses across all sectors and this new platform will mean more businesses can talk to the 118,000 Townsville listeners that the two stations reach, with local messages more often,” he said.

“Radio is immediate, it’s local and it’s personal. Advertising on radio is like having a yarn with your mates, the original social media! This is what makes it so effective and the beauty of advertising on Hit or Triple M Townsville, is that you talk to the exact people you need to, there’s no wasting your time and money trying to outplay the search engine for clicks. In fact, you’ll reach over 118,000 people in the Townsville region. The majority of the market, Just like that.”
