After rebranding from Southern Cross Television to 7 Spencer Gulf in 2018, SCA has now re-branded its local news service from Southern Cross News to Nightly News on 7 Spencer Gulf.  The re-branded nightly news service will be broadcast on weekdays from Monday, 14 January 2019.

To avoid clashes with Big Bash programming, the Nightly News will be broadcast in Spencer Gulf at 7:00pm weeknights on 7TWO from 14 January 2019 to 1 February 2019.  From Monday, 4 February 2019, the Nightly News will be broadcast from 6:30pm weeknights on the main 7 Spencer Gulf channel.

With local journalists based in key centres in the Spencer Gulf licence area, SCA will present the Nightly News on 7 Spencer Gulf from its television news hub in Hobart.

The change in name follows extension until 2021of SCA’s regional television affiliation agreement with the Seven Network.  The affiliation agreement allows broadcast of Seven’s metropolitan free-to-air television content into the Tasmanian TV1, Darwin TV1, Remote Central and Eastern Australia TV2, Spencer Gulf TV1 and Broken Hill TV1 regional television licence markets.
