The Morrison Government has announced the successful first round recipients of the Regional and Small Publishers Cadetships Program.

$1.78 million was being shared between 41 media organisations across Australia, from the tiny NSW town of Tumut to Mareeba in North Queensland.

The grants will help budding journalists develop invaluable career skills in media organisations and help journalism thrive in regional and remote areas.

The Regional and Small Publishers Cadetships Program will enable SCA to employ 2 cadet journalists with a specific focus on newsgathering in Regional Australia.

SCA speaks to 2.3 million Aussies living in regional and remote Australia, and our local news is a vital part of the fabric of our communities.

These cadets will be exposed to grassroots journalism, with the added benefit of being part of a large and supportive SCA News Team.

Cadets will learn the basics including writing, interviewing, reading news, with a filter of uncovering news that truly matters to people who live and love living regionally.

Jobs will be advertised in the coming months on the SCA Careers site.
